Abstract
The Water Billing System is a PHP–MySQL based web application that automates the process of managing consumer water usage, generating bills, collecting payments, and maintaining customer records. This system enables water supply authorities to store customer details, calculate charges based on usage, issue bills automatically, and allow customers to view and pay bills online. It reduces manual work, ensures accurate billing, and improves transparency in billing and payment collection.

Existing System
Currently, most water supply agencies rely on manual billing processes — meter readings are taken physically, calculations are done manually or with spreadsheets, and printed bills are sent to customers. This process is time-consuming, error-prone, and often results in delayed billing and payment collection. Tracking unpaid bills or maintaining a detailed history for each customer is also difficult.

Proposed System

The proposed Water Billing System in PHP automates the entire billing cycle. Administrators can register consumers, record water meter readings, generate bills automatically based on usage, and track payments. Consumers can view and pay their bills online, receive notifications about dues, and check their consumption history. This digitization increases accuracy, reduces billing errors, speeds up payment collection, and provides better customer service.
