Abstract:
Traditional alphanumeric passwords are often weak, reused, and vulnerable to phishing or brute-force attacks. A Graphical Password Authentication System in Django Python enhances security by allowing users to authenticate themselves using image-based credentials rather than text-based passwords. Users either select a predefined sequence of images, click on hotspots within an image, or draw a pattern as their password. This approach improves memorability while increasing resistance to guessing attacks. By leveraging Django’s secure framework and its built-in user management, the system integrates image-based password storage with encryption and provides a user-friendly, secure alternative to traditional login systems.
Existing System:
Most existing systems rely on single-factor, text-based passwords, which are easily guessable or subject to brute-force and keylogging attacks. Even platforms that implement two-factor authentication still depend heavily on these passwords as their primary credential. Few web applications offer graphical authentication as an integrated feature, leaving a gap for stronger, more intuitive security mechanisms.

Proposed System:
The proposed Graphical Password System in Django Python introduces an innovative login mechanism where users register by selecting or arranging a series of images, or by clicking specific hotspots within an image. The system securely stores hashed and encrypted coordinates or sequences rather than actual images. During login, users must replicate the same pattern or sequence to gain access. Django handles the backend logic, session management, and secure data storage. This system significantly strengthens security while maintaining ease of use, reducing password fatigue, and providing an engaging authentication experience for end users.
