Developed using the Django web framework, the system ensures a fair, efficient, and transparent elective allocation process, reducing manual intervention and ensuring smooth academic operations.

Existing System
In the current system, elective registration is often conducted through manual forms, Excel sheets, or basic web portals without proper automation. This results in errors, duplicate registrations, delays, and unfair allocation when seats are limited. Students may not receive immediate confirmation of their registered electives, and administrators spend significant time reconciling records. Additionally, there is often no centralized platform for course details, seat availability, and automated selection, which creates confusion among students and inefficiency in academic departments.

Proposed System

The proposed system introduces a Django-based automated elective management platform that streamlines the entire process. Students can log in, browse elective subjects, check seat availability, and register instantly. The system enforces seat limits automatically and provides real-time confirmation of allocation. Administrators and faculty can add/edit electives, define seat capacities, and monitor student enrollments through dashboards and reports. Additional features such as student preference ranking, automated conflict resolution, email/SMS notifications, and report generation enhance usability. Compared to the existing system, the proposed solution ensures accuracy, transparency, fairness, and significant time savings, while also supporting scalability for large institutions.
