Abstract:
Personal identification is considered as an imperative aspect to identify a particular individual and can be validated through the biometric methods. The application of biometric identification in personal verification enables in various domains such as the iris recognition, face recognition, voice, fingerprint etc., Currently, Smart Classroom Lecture Attendance Management System (LAMS) for education sectors is still underutilized. The Proposed method aims to provide a smart and secure biometric attendance system for lecturer using fingerprint verification. The proposed system is achieved in five phases. First phase focuses on creating database for all faculties in the current academic year, second phase involve finger print scanner, whereas third phase is database verification, next phase concentrate whether the faculty is available in the class or not. In the final phase, SMS alert is sent to the corresponding class in-charge if the faculty is not available in the class room. From the proposed methodology, the class in charge can monitor and ensure whether the staff is in class room or not.
