Abstract:
This paper presents the suitability of the Synthetic Storm Technique (SST) for converting the rain rate statistics into rain attenuation statistics for different tropical and temperate locations. Prediction of rain attenuation statistics at different frequency and elevation angle is directly made from the measured rain rate statistics and compared with the actual measurement. With the increase of frequency, difference of predicted attenuation values for the same rain rate is observed. It has been examined how elevation angle effects the resulting attenuation for same rain rate measurement.
